The Met: Live in HD, Metropolitan Opera’s hugely successful series of live broadcasts in cinemas, has launched its 2013-14 season. Audiences in 64 countries around the world will be given the opportunity to experience 10 operas from the New York Met - including four new productions - beginning with Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin in October, starring Anna Netrebko, Mariusz Kwiecien and Piotr Beczala in a new staging by Deborah Warner conducted by Valery Gergiev.

Later in the season Met music director James Levine returns to the podium to conduct a new production of Verdi’s Falstaff directed by Robert Carsen (December), and the first Live in HD performance of Mozart’s Così fan tutte (April).

Also broadcast is William Kentridge’s production of Shostakovich’s The Nose starring Paulo Szot (October); Puccini’s Tosca with Patricia Racette and Robert Alagna (November); Renée Fleming in the title role of Dvořák’s Rusalka, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin (February ); a new production of Borodin’s epic Prince Igor, conducted by Gianandrea Noseda and directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov (March); Jonas Kaufmann and Elīna Garanča in a new staging by Richard Eyre of Massenet’s Werther (March); Puccini’s La Bohème with Vittorio Grigolo starring in Franco Zeffirelli’s classic production (April); and Joyce DiDonato and Juan Diego Flórez in Rossini’s La Cenerentola under Met principal conductor Fabio Luisi (May).
